identification test | solubility insoluble in water; Soluble in ethanol, ether and propylene glycol. Measured according to OT-42 method. Melting range 99~102 ℃. The sample was dried at 90 ℃ for 6 hours. Color test, gallic acid test. The thin-layer chromatographic analysis of gallate is the same as "08007, 12 gallate", but in the gallic acid test, 10mg of octyl gallate in the normal solution A, 10mg of propyl gallate and 10mg of octyl gallate in the control solution B are dissolved in 10ml of methanol. |
content analysis | method-spectrophotometry, this method is the same as the method in "12 gallate (08007). Its E1cm1% (276nm)-380~390. Methods Bismuth dinitrate precipitation method, this method is the same as "12 gallate (08007)", but the coefficient in calculation is changed from 60.17 to 55.74. |
toxicity | ADI 0~0.1 mg/kg(FAO/WHO,2001). LD504.7g/kg (rat, oral). According to the EEC-HACSG regulations, it shall not be used for infant food (1990). |
usage limit | FAO/WHO(1984): 100 mg/kg of general edible fat, margarine and milk fat. |
Production method | is obtained by esterification of octanol and gallic acid. |
